When a friend of mine passed, his facebook was flooded with people saying how much they missed him, and every now and then people still leave messages for him saying they miss him or how something reminded them of him. Regardless of whether the deceased is going to see it or not, it's a way of reaching out and connecting with them again. Poor girl. I completely understand why she wrote it on facebook.
